Can anyone translate this MOT failure for me? It says O/s/f + N/s/f lower wishbone rear rubber debonded.... ?(

I know that is something to do with the suspsension but would it explain the terrible creaking when going over bumps / braking and the fact that the car will pitch / jump all over any bumpy roads and virtually understeer through any corner? (never mind the fact I may be goin too fast LOL)...

Ive never driven another escort so it is hard to compare..... also it seems like it's quite expensive to fix :jaw: , what sort of price is the norm?

any advice would be greatly appreciated (sp) :D

Ps: I can get an ticket without getting the work done but how safe is it?

Means you need 2 new front bottom arms/wishbones.

About £20 each (non genuine) and an hour a side to fit :thumb:

:thumb: your wishbones/ lower arms are fucked. a very common problem.

yes thats where the noises are coming from, and new ones will make it handle much better.

for pattern parts your looking at about 60 quid fitted each side, max.

where can you get them for 20 quid? i can only get them for 25ish. and thats at trade price. :O

Thanks mate. :thumb:

At least now I know what I want I can hopefully NOT get ripped off by a garage!

I'm pleased it will handle better too... I was startin to wonder if all escorts were just sh*te... everytime I turn into a corner or hit a bump the car would just go virtually straight on!

Is it worth getting these 'performance' bushed you see in the magz? (ie: performance ford)

no way. the wishbones come with the bottom ball joint attached, which wears out at the same time. so no point.

i'm gonna put the deflex anti- roll bar bushes on though, there about the same price as ford any way. :thumb:

I just got some for my van, but they were old stock of a mate, £14 each.

Partco do them for about £19 each plus VAT (trade price), don't know if they were on offer though.

£25 is a good price, though.

Get a full deflex set up bout 65 squid for the full set a couple of new ball joints the jobs a good un i have these on my 2k totally transformed the way it steers handles etc

'wishbone rear rubber debonded' probably means the bush is no longer fixed into the arm and is just loose
8o i got a problem like that but its coming from both the front and back when going over bumps. and when u put the car on full lock it makes a knocking noise any ideas..... im thinking bushes and wheel bearings ??
