Posted May 1, 200519 yr just want to fit a decent, loud but inexpenxive sound system,i know a cheap site to get stuff, but just wondering what i need- sub,amp etc? any help appreciated, thanks, matt.
May 1, 200519 yr Well depends what sorta budget you got really and what size install you have in mind? Someplaces do pretty good sub and amp packages which are loud for the money your paying.
May 1, 200519 yr I would say to get a decent HU, look at the likes of JVC and Pioneer for around £100 range - that should start you off nicely. You will then need an ISO wiring loom adaptor, and a single DIN adaptor if you have a Mk6. You should then look for some nice front speakers, co-axials if you are lazy, but components if you want to customise your sound more (but it takes a bit more work). You probably want to look for a decent 12" sub, stay away from Sony, and look towards Pioneer and JL if you can afford it. Don't buy a pre-made box, make your own - much cheaper and better SQ - just make sure it is the right volume and you seal all the joints well. You will then want a nice 4-channel amp to run it off, the new range of JBL amps are pretty powerful for the money, although have a slightly lower SNR than ideal. For a wiring kit look towards 4-guage, as when you upgrade (as you probably will - everyone does) you will not need to re-run larger cable. Its slightly more expensive than smaller wiring kits, but worth it in the long run. The main idea is KISS - Keep it simple, stupid What I have said above will give you a nice sounding system, whilst being relatively cheap and easy to install.
May 1, 200519 yr It doesn't take much to beat SPLx!! The AYB stuff has amp ratings of 1,000,000W - but they all run off 10W fuses I bet
May 1, 200519 yr http://www.allyourbass.co.uk/?menu=14&productid=156 4800W of pure amplification power!!!!! However, I can't see the 0 guage wiring inputs - and I can't seem to see the separate sub channel! Its also amazing that they have produced an amp that efficient - that it produces all that power and only weighs 5kg!!!!!!
