Posted May 19, 200519 yr sure you been checking the old Auto Trader, but that's a fine looking GTi for the money Nice Black GTi

The depreciate like mad anyway. The zetecs are good for big mileage too. Mine has 84k, and the service history I have suggests it's only had about 5 services it's whole life and it's still rock solid.... as long as the cam belt is done of course.
May 19, 200519 yr If i get 40k milliage car, i wouldn't expect to spend much on anything at 60k and ware tear bits start needing to be replaced, clutch, cambelt, water pump, lower arms, suspension tops. Im trying to get a VERY low maintence car, which will cost nowt for atleast a yeah so i can save for a house deposite or clear the credit cards.

Mine had done 40k and needed the lower arms doing, cambelt, brakes, etc etc and ended up a £850 service! I suggest something German. Maybe a mk3 Golf GTi??? Or a E36 320i?? Can pick both of those up for a few £k now.
May 19, 200519 yr Author Mine had done 40k and needed the lower arms doing, cambelt, brakes, etc etc and ended up a £850 service! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> looks like u dropped unlucky then dunno any1 else that has been faced with anything like that
May 19, 200519 yr when i had my mk6 everything seemed go wrong at around the same time.. mr2.. no probs.. except new back tyres
May 19, 200519 yr in 2yrs i doubt any escort will be worth much anyway.. their not gonna go up in value thats for sure IMO.. not even the RS2k will.. not like its got the heritage of say the mk1's or 2's
May 19, 200519 yr maybe your right, but at least when i need a new handbrake cable etc i dont have pay £59 per side I used to love my old escort, servicing is cheap, i dont get garage trying to jam parts design for the UK version into my import deffiant that im wrong when i tell them theres no UK equivlant. Theres probably not a single job on maintaing a escort i couldn't do if i gave it some thought. But with the MR2 im about reluctant to do the work myself becuase of the power and breed of the car. Buy my MR2: http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...showtopic=45159 lol Seriously tho, i miss my old escort, i put alot hard work into it, and if have to downgrade, i wouldn't want any other car (except a st24 )
May 19, 200519 yr Author 1.8 115ps MK6 Escort is unbeatble as an all-rounder IMO, in terms of price (cheap enough), power (powerful enuff not to make driving a chore and not the slowest, while I'm not saying it by any means sets the world alight), looks (with even minor fettling IE/ get rid of the crappy cheap trim, it looks swish) anything less, don't bother, 1.6> is an incapable sh1theap
May 19, 200519 yr 1.6> is an incapable sh1theap <{POST_SNAPBACK}>That's a tad harsh! If you give it everything, and I mean everything (not just foot on the floor) it'll get itself going up to a ton without too much trouble. Dunno about the 1.8, but I'll soon be spanking a 2L around!! Paul it seems you're prepared to put up with a little hassle from the escort which is the amount you'll pay for sentimental values. Paul, and sentimental in the same sentence, surely not PMSL! Would be good to see ya back down Southend in a blue oval!

May 19, 200519 yr 1.8 + deffo much easier than the gutless 1.6. Thats what I like about the Escort if anything goes wrong its reasonably easy and cheap to fix and there is so many parts suppliers around spares are easy to come by

LOL To get the most out of any car, you have to drive "like a muthafucka" Do you not enjoy it?? I used to love getting fed up with lack of progress, so drop 2 or 3 gears, and cane the fcuk out of it!!!!! Jesus, serious withdrawal symptons!!! Anyway, I'm sure a 115bhp 1.8 is the only option Paul is considering
