me and my mate have been wondering if the 1.6 mk6 Escorts are 16v or 8v??

 

I've checked around in parkers and whatnot, but it only lists that the 5dr 1.6'ers are 16v and doesn't mention the 3dr's.

 

So, the 1.6 Si, LX, Mexico or whatever, are they 16v'ers?

 

My mate is getting one by the way and will be joining the club as soon as he's got it.

 

yup, all 1.6's have 16v, twin cam Zetec engines

ya big silly! the 8v 1.6 cvh died out with the mk4 i think, the 1.4 and 1.3 are 8v though

nope, the 1.6 CVH can be found in mk5's too, i.e. penny's "eric"

does any one know the yr they stopped using the 1.6 cvh? i allways thought mk5 onwards was a zetec untill i heard of eric

end of 91/some 92 registered cars are cvh's... the 1.6 cvh made more power was quicker to 60 and had a higher top speed... the re-named the cvh the PTE or something and carried on selling it till they did away with the escort... all 1.4's are cvh what ever extra plastic ford used and what ever they were called, its one of hondas cast offs, if only they'd given up on the v-tec in stead

In the same was the 1.3 HCS is essentially a 1300 X-Flow!

yup the hcs or "rattler" as most mechanices no it was pretty much what your grandad had in his mk1 pop plus... and a 1300 x-flow would have been better as it could be mildly tuned, where as the hcs with w@nky CFi was useless for anything other than insurance!

and the 1300 crossflow can now be found in the Ka. not current ones, my mate has a s reg ka 1.3 which has an endura e engine, pretty much the same as the old xflow/hcs with electronic fuel injection. still cack

yup they only just did away with it in favour of a duratec wasn't it... got to admire the audacity of a company flogging the same shite for 40 years
