K3V HA Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Why do people 'LOVE' fords so much? What makes it sooo special to you, i mean, i know people who love their vauxhalls, VW's, BMW's etc, what is it to YOU that makes ford so appealing? This is a discussion, NOT a why ford is better, bmw is better, poxhalls argument etc! Please.
marsbar1973 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I think it has sonething to do with growing up with them. My parents had Fords, Capri's, Escorts (XR3i's & RST's). They always seemed solid to me, and my parents never had any major problems with them. Guess it just rubbed off on me. Loved my first car (X plate Escort) to bits and was mortified when I sold it. So recently got one again and love it. Even though its a different mk, it's like being home. Weird I suppose!
Scotteh Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) i've never "loved" Fords, i just think they have made some great cars like the gt40 and the cosworth, ur every day ford does nothing for me tbh as they are mass produced. i bought my escort bcuz i liked the way it drives and i liked the look of the car, much better than any other car for me at the time, now ive got a different car my opinions still havent changed about the escort, still one of my fav looking cars, but driving wise just doesnt compare anymore altho i know some ppl will always have a ford no matter wot, tis all personal preference, but for me, in answer to the question....i dont love fords, i like them Edited September 6, 2005 by Scotteh
BlairM Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 In my lifetime there was probably only two years or so that we've never had a Ford in our household, that was about 10 years ago when my dad had a Pug and my brothers had a stinky old Volvo 340! So I would say I like Ford's because I've been brought up with them. I'd also think it's because I know what to expect from a Ford. Won't ever buy a new Ford again as long as the same dealers still selling them round here cos of the experience I had.
Russ_Zetec Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 For me its not just the cars, but the scene around them i love as well.. its just so happens that i got into the ford scene before anyother scene and its sticking!
RickH Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I initially went for Ford because i was poor and wanted something on a budget
Mike C Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 because there's just sooooo much variation within one brand I love the sights, the sounds, the smells just love it. You either "get" it or u don't plus always nice, reliable, easy to work on cars with cheap and readily available parts
Dean-o Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) My dad has always had ford so really ive just followed himnot sure if i'll have a ford when i get rid of my escort though, only time will tell Can't wait for Mikes answer to this, hes probably working on a 10 page answer to this as we speak *Edit* crap mikes already answered Edited September 6, 2005 by Dean-o
Ex-Finesse Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Mainly because I picked a mk6 escort as the best base model for a decent modded car, bearing in mind a 16 / 17yo was the driver. It's since then I've learnt of other Ford models. The only Ford I can remember being in our family was a piece of Shite brown mk3 5dr!!
Jackster Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Cant really explain why i always buy Fords, apart from my first 2 cars i have always had an escort of one sort or another, from an old mark 3 Y reg, mark 4 XR3i, mark 5 18's & 1.6's, diesels and petrols and now the car i have now. I now know why i havent bought a BM personally, prices of repairs are ridiculous at least with Fords most things are cheap and easy to replace.
RickH Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 My next car will defo be Jap though, now that iv finally earnt a bit of money, i really would love an mr2 or crx or something along those lines ! But for a first few cars, Ford was definately a good choice, cheap and cheerfull, only downside was that you generally got what you paid for. Dont think i had a month go by in my 2 years of Ford ownership without having to fork out on some maintenance bills.

Some people have said that, but I and plenty of others have paid fcuk all but my next car will also be Jap methinks
Blimey Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Dont really love ford as a whole, although theyve got plenty of nice cars, just like the escort shape, a hatch with a boot lip, unlike most roundback hatch's these days.
85rob Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) grown up with ford/vauxhall vans and cars and they havent had any problems. my first escort i dont think i had to replace anything in the time i owned it, the owner before had problems with it cutting out and not starting for half hour or so but it was trouble free for me. i grew up with my sisters ex having a love for bikes and cars, had quite a few ford models and as far back as i can remember watching rallying n that there was manly fords in them. danposs86 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Just grown up with them, my dad would only ever own Fords. Although he would love a BMW (ohh, and has a Disco at the moment for work).
