Devboy Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 how, my car is overheating and i think its because there is an air buble in the water system how are you ament to bleed the water system?
ryanrs Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 i usually drain the system, by taking off the water pipe from the lowest point, prob the bottom of the radiator, then blow thru the header tank to make sure its all out, then re connect the pipe, and take off the return pipe to the header tank (the one at the top of the header) then fill up the header tank and keep blowing the water throught the system, till the water comes out of the return pipe, without spitting bubbles ... then top it up.. then you have to leave the header tank cap on, but undone, and let the car warm up.. and any bubbles will bleed out. then top up as neseccary. -prob not the best way to do it tho ?? i like doing things the hard way!
sortedford Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 id use some radiator/ water system cleaner firt.but to bleed the system i usually find that if you jack up the front drivers side so the header tank is the highest part, take the cap off and cover with a damp cloth then start the car and let it run
Devilchild Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 All u have to do is take the cap off the expansion tank and squeeze all the hoses in sequence (quite a few times,) u will c the air bubbles come to the surface in the tank. Once the water just pumps up and down with no bubbles, all is gd steve
