help please??????

right ive been fitting a remote central locking kit, and a guy on heres been helping me, thanks but i connected the postive wires to a orange and black wire which i thought would be the constant positive on a mk 6 1996 model, but it didnt work, now i went to switch it on and when i get it into the third position in th ignition after about 30 seconds a noise starts from the engine bay somewhere, like a drill but stuttery drill if you get me
