Clean all traces of wax, sap, insects, mud and mineral deposits off the car. That means *all*. Give the car a good T-cutting but bear in mind that it is *still* an abrasive and will eventually wear your paint through to the tarmac given enough effort and a couple of years. Seriously though - if you have any scratches you can "feel" with your nail (not *a* nail) then use a scratch remover. T-Cut scratch remover works a treat. Then use T-Cut over the rest of the car. Wash wash wash wash your car until all traces of T-Cut are removed. Shampoo, chamois and wax!!

I've found that light regular care works so much better, and is easier than infrequent washing and polishing. Avoid automatic car washes!!!! Wash your chamois and car cleaning cloths regularly!!!! Remove any grit and dust from your paint before you wash it by hand!!!!
