geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Just built a canny pc for a mate, but when i install the drivers (on cd) i'm then unable to do MSN webcam nor watch ANY videos, it freezes/crashes the PC for a period of around 5 seconds (unable to move mouse or anything) then 5 seconds of freedom then back and forth..... i've tried souring a newer driver & older one, but the same thing keeps happening..... does anybody know of a way around this or can find a patch for it? i've been on it for a day now system specs:3GHZ p41gb ramGeforce 6200 Gcard (<----conflicting driver)120gb HDD EVERYTHING else works fine, for example Counter Strike:Source runs at silly FPS, but as soon as a video comes in its path it gives up
geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 well i orginally thought that but then after i formatted again (thinking it was OS) i tried it WITHOUT the driver installed (xp running it) and the video worked fine, but obviously you can't run it forever like that as its sluggy ETC
foxdie Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Get yourself to all the respective websites and download the latest updats, denator drivers etc etc. ALso update windows, and download the latest MSN, and WEB cam drivers. My guess its your AGP driver on the motherboard thats Shite.
geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 tried all the above not looking good as he's threw the Gcard box out lol OH PS...i've tried an earlier Geforce card in (out my old pc and that works fine)
Madmax Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Nvidia cards are notorious for having conflicting software problems, my bro used to have one in his old comp and it was nuffing but probs. Then switched to ati radeon and no probs since
M4TT Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 download the new nvidia drivers from nvida.com had a nvidia card ages now no problems
geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 Yup done that m4tt, even tried their BETA drivers.... to no avail i've just downloaded an omega driver now (www.omegadrivers.net) these are meant to be Shite hot, even better than the orginal drivers?? will give that a whirl PS got that tomtom yet??
Scotteh Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 likely going to be a motherboard problem as nvidia cards r the most driver/program friendly cards
geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 lol yup, it was nvidia's software not the actual driver, it came to me as i pee'd.....install the driver from device manager instead of the CD its working fine moral of the story ONLY INSTALL DRIVERS lol (i usually do it that way but he wanted ALL the software on so he wasn't 'missing out') lol
bluliz Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 i've never had a problem with Nvidia drivers. but i dont use nvidia ones anymore. OMEGA all the way
geordie_aaron Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 i was just thinking about omegadriver.net hmm
