tazy201 Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 hi bin speaking to dunnell..www.dunnellengines.com and thay have told me this Suggest our RMP101 modified cylinder head and a pair of ZRV camshafts.Together with a suitably modified ECU (chipped) you can expect over 170 bhp. is this true i have 1.8 gti
RST_mark Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Hmmm...... wouldn't expect that much power using the standard zetec injection and intake. Probabily need throttle bodies for that sort of power figure.
tidykart Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Hmmm...... wouldn't expect that much power using the standard zetec injection and intake. Probabily need throttle bodies for that sort of power figure. Ditto- Ross spent about £5000 on his I think and that got him 165bhp. So no way is that little list will get you that figure.
tazy201 Posted November 1, 2005 Author Posted November 1, 2005 hmm he seems genuine tho .. in perfomance frod this month there is a rs2000 modded with tere name on it . what should i ask him then ... this is what the rmp 101 is .. CYLINDER HEAD - Modified chambers & ports. Chamber volumes balanced and set for desired compression ratio. Valve seats re-cut to racing profiles....and this is what the zrv is ... ZRV CAMSHAFT RANGE - Hydraulic tappet operationOur unique range of precision ground computer generated profiles using the latest CNC grinding techniques, ensuring perfect profile reproduction. A no compromise dedicated design solution to retaining hydraulic tappets. As used successfully by leading engine builders world-wide.
Ex-Finesse Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 You have hydraulically operated lifters already You won't 170bhp unless you go for bodies with a wild top end spec.
tazy201 Posted November 1, 2005 Author Posted November 1, 2005 You have hydraulically operated lifters already You won't 170bhp unless you go for bodies with a wild top end spec. as im not the best with this i want to no if what he is saying is right . can anyone wright me a email to send him asking the question i need to ask to see how much crap he is talking . if someone can i will post hes reply up so you can all see ..... has anyone herd of them because apparently thay have one a few competitions
basskiddanny Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 How much is he saying it will cost?? If i was going to have a tuned engine, i would personally start with a 2.0 zetec conversion for the power that your looking for. Start with the largest capacity thats easily available to you....
Lee R Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 hi bin speaking to dunnell..www.dunnellengines.com and thay have told me this Suggest our RMP101 modified cylinder head and a pair of ZRV camshafts.Together with a suitably modified ECU (chipped) you can expect over 170 bhp. is this true i have 1.8 gti its 100% true. You can expect 170bhp, but ask them to guarrentee it
Scotteh Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 its 100% true. You can expect 170bhp, but ask them to guarrentee it aye lol good reply
basskiddanny Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 "New engines are run for up to five hours on our computer controlled dynamometer, and then fully power tested with all variables being uniquely adjusted for your engine in order to guarantee top performance and reliability. Finally, and only if the engine meets the stated power output, the engine is subjected to a final inspection prior to sign off. " SOME people my take that as a guarentee that it will make the power stated when you go to them..........But as lee said, you can EXPECT 170bhp, but you wont get it lol. How much did he quote you for this?
tazy201 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 5 hundred for rmp 101 and 200 for zrv cams ...... so what do i do go for this or not . will i notice the difference
Timmy C Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 This sort of stuff makes me laugh. Tell him that you want him to sign a binding contract stating that you are gaurenteed 170bhp or more subject to him doing the work and you paying for it and see what he says! Oh and record the phone conversation and email it to me
tazy201 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 This sort of stuff makes me laugh. Tell him that you want him to sign a binding contract stating that you are gaurenteed 170bhp or more subject to him doing the work and you paying for it and see what he says! Oh and record the phone conversation and email it to me lol .. funy thing is i have sent him a few emails asking him stuff and everytime i come home from work he has replyed . but when i said how is this true and what some of you guys have told me i am yet to see what he has to say .. i will let you no what he has to say
basskiddanny Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Its still going to be a 1.8 zetec, you wouldnt gain much torque from these modifications anyway i would doubt, and definately not 170bhp. You need more torque!
tazy201 Posted November 11, 2005 Author Posted November 11, 2005 finally he has replyed ant this is what he has to say If you require a guarantee of the engines output, then the way forward isfor us to rebuild the engine for you as requested, place the unit on ourDynamometer, and obtain the genuine power figures. The estimated cost for the above is £800 labour for the rebuild and £440 forthe dynamometer run (6 hours) and power test. Regards, what you reckon .. what is a dynamoneter
