greeneyes25 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Tomorrow is mot day, which i'm dreading despite the fact i've spent a sh1t load of money recently on the car. Has anyone else had a problem with the rear shocks when only lowering on springs? I couldn't tell you how long they'd been on the car before I bought it. with everything else being done recently I can only think its the shocks which are knackered. Ah well tomorrow will tell I suppose. How much are they to be replaced as a rough idea? Thanks in advance
Muzz Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Rest on the back of the car and then jump off, does it bounce a few times and then settle??
Rob_GTi Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Ive got my MOT tomorrow, only just realised its due and need to find somewhere that will do it at short notice You reckon somewhere will?
greeneyes25 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 I just phoned the bloke this morning and he said tomorrow...but I know him, plus will get a good deal, I'm just hoping it doesn't need shocks! I will go out and test the bounciness of the car in a wee while
basskiddanny Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 You should get some uprated shocks anyway mate. Robs shocks will go soon since he is using the standard ones
greeneyes25 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 Me = Skint, well almost, i've got a big weekend lined up and i'm not sure if I can afford shocks and what I've got planned! I'll get it sorted anyway, will let you know what happens tomorrow
Rob_GTi Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Good luck with it matey. how much have you lowered it?
Rob_GTi Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Same as mine dropped on standard shocks. Cheers mate
basskiddanny Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Have you jumped on it yet to check them mate??
greeneyes25 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 Not yet, I'm not even dressed yet and I don't wanna scare my neighbours! Will check later and give the results I'm assuming I should only be hoping for one bounce yeah?
Rob_GTi Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Woo just found a place that will do it 2morrow It should bounce one and settle, shouldn't bounce repeatedily.
greeneyes25 Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 Ok did the bounce test, pushed the car down and it sprung back up and didn't go down again, I'm guessing that this is a good sign...I checked both sides . It is just that yesterday while raggin it down the dualer I noticed it seemed a bit on the wavy side changing lanes...now I've had the wishbones replaces the tracking hasn't been done yet, but will be by tomorrow. Also what on earth are track rod ends and are they expensive to replace? My local mechanic mentioned the track rod ends when I had the suspension and wishbones done, he said they would need replacing, but what does this cause the car to do if they are fukced?
greeneyes25 Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 One new track rod end required for MOT, boy am I glad! And thats it, all it needed, so I'm well chuffed! I can afford to get totally sh!tfaced this weekend
