Rich
im getting the same problem m8, been doing it about a week now. I have been told on higher model escorts it indicates brakes will need looking at soon (personally i doubt it, as its connected to the handbrake) to turn it off i have found just touching the hand brake will cure it. As to the cause i would say, apart from the fact its ford wiring, a loose switch on the handbrake maybe Any ideas anyone?
simonh1
On the Ghia models it is a dual function light, when the handbrake is off it doubles up as a front pad wear indicator and break fluid level warning light.
Al
As Si has said above, i would guess your brake fluid is a little bit low.Top it up to the Max mark only.Al.

Al
that will explain it then, the brakes are gone, its grinding.....i.e. im getting the metal on metal grinding noise which i hate..... is that safe to drive/brake with for a few days as garage is full for next few days If it is 'grinding' it means there is NO brake pad left.Which means metal to metal contact for brake disc....not a good idea to drive it like this mate, unless of course you don't use your brakes. Pelles
ive got to drive it tho, today ive done probably 30 miles with it, and still got another 20miles to go (end of work, and including tomorrows journey to garage) i would do it myself, but yous obviously aint seen the scottish weather recently lol...... anyhow, my handbrakes been my best pal recently, and downshifting has also helped to slow me down, my brakes are last resort to stopping.
