Hi guys, was wondering how difficult it is to get the power wire into the car, i could never do it on my mk5b so i ended up having it really poorly done so you could see the power wire if you were standing outside the car. Ive heard something about taking the passenger side front wheel off and the mudguard, is this the best way and does anyone have a picture of how this is done, i.e. where the hole is with a grommet.

Finally with the 17cm front speaker conversion in my mk5b the speaker protruded out of the doorcard when i put it back on so i had to butcher the door card and it looked poo. Is this normal? I would only get the 17cm door adapters if you can get the door card on and it doesnt look really shoddy, id prefer it if it looked standard still afterwards. Any pictures would help here too thanks guys.

P.S I have a 3door Si mk6 now if this makes any odds.

That's probably the best way to do it.

Take it from me, if you drop wheel, mudshields, and footwell trim it wi;ll all become obvious and you won't need pix! :thumb:

Cheers cargs ur a legend, just need to find out about the speaker adaptors now

If you know where the speedo cable goes through the firewall, then just use a scissor, cut a hole in the rubber surrounding it and pull it in there next to it.

second step, take out your dashboard/switch panel and look for the cable behind the speedometer. Then when you got it, lay it down to the floor and backwards in your car..

Works great for me. My car i LHD, but i guess the basics will be the same for you. I may post a pic tomorrow. =)

TBH dropping the wheel and plastic arch it the easiest and better option

nah the easiest option is to drill a hole behind the battery, takes minutes and will be fine as long as you seal it well to keep any moisture away from it. Make sure you put a rubber gromet in it though you aint weanting vibrations to cause the cable to rub and eventually earth on the body.

thats what i did on the red one lol but on the RS used the gromet under the wheel arch but didnt remove the plastic arch, only took bout 2mins

I just finished doing the wiring, havent hooked the wire up to the battery or wired up amps properly yet as cant be bothered, it took me ALL day just to get it almost done. Took the wheel off and the mud guard and there was soo much mud it wasnt even funny when i moved my car away there was a massive pile of soil.

Did anyone have trouble getting the wires from the rear seats through to the boot while managing to keep the wires hidden, i tried my best but theres tonnes of wires from the cd changer and 2 amp wiring kits etc so there is slight showing of the wires in the gap between the rear door trim and the rear bench of my 3 door. Not fun at all im knackered now :(

I bolted mine to the main feed into the fusebox
