hi i need a new bumper, cant get 1 in my color. if i get 1 in a diffrent color, whats the best way pf preping it for the top coat? will it still need priming?

thanks guys

jamie

Iv just sprayed my bumpers using cans & got a nice finish :D

Prep the bumper well by sanding with wet & dry till you get a nice smooth bumper.

do about 3-4 coats of primer then use a fine grade wet & dry to lightly get a silky touch.

i used about 5 400ml cans of colour doing about 4 coats leaving it a day then 1200 grit wet & dry it to get it nice & smooth before you do a final 3 coats.

Leave for roughly 3 days then get the 1200 grit wet & dry out again & lightly smooth it using plenty of water.

Use rubbing compound to get the final smooth finish & colour blend you require before using a paste wax to buff it up.

result :D

100% as above :thumb: If there are any holes etc they will need filling with as little filler as possible then rubbing down before primering.

yep i missed the filling bit out on purpose as i dont know the condition of said bumper but neil is correct. :D

cheers peewee with give it ago, do i need to use laquar as well ?

and what grade should i use first off all before i prime it?

Depending on your colour i didnt use a laquar at all.

Before priming i think i used around a 500grit wet & dry, depends on your surface 8)

WOW man! Cant fault the quality on the spray job on that bumper, did you really do that with cans???
