Posted May 9, 200618 yr Right muzz has informed me i need a MK5, which i assume i just need to drill another hole to make it fit. But which one is it recommended that i purchase? Any certain brand? Is it from a MK5 rs2k too that i need?
May 9, 200618 yr yeah it is the mk5 rs2k one that you need to get and drill a hole in. IIRC ralph has either sparco one or omp
May 9, 200618 yr Author For sale or just on his car? lol. Also is there any benefit in getting an aftermarket front one over the ford one? Edited May 9, 200618 yr by basskiddanny
May 9, 200618 yr Its a sparco one mate. and you need to drill in four ovals for it to fit as the threads it goes over are at angles. Fitted mine yesterday
May 9, 200618 yr Author In your opinion has it made any noticeable difference? And do you have an ARB too on the back?
May 9, 200618 yr In your opinion has it made any noticeable difference? And do you have an ARB too on the back? Have not had a proper go with it but it did seem sharper on the roundabout and felt alot more bumpy at the rear. Yep have an anti roll bar and is fully polybushed
May 9, 200618 yr Author When you fitted the ARB, which im assuming you fitted an rs2k beam, did you think there was a noticeable difference in: A) BrakingB) Handling
May 13, 200618 yr do ford produce one of these rear strut braces as i know they produced a front one.
May 13, 200618 yr ralphs is a mk5 rsk spacro one, which was from my mk6 rs2k made some differance to my car and just some moding to do to all the holes really
May 13, 200618 yr danny, fit a propper cage if you want to feel a big difference. I noticed a hell of a difference with a half cage in
May 15, 200618 yr Danny, Ford never made a rear strut brace. You can get a sparco one, maybe an OMP one too, but havent seen any. I'm afraid your questions of this handling nature are far too complex. Noticing differences from handling these finer handling mods is down to the driver, and I don't think a great proportion of evo members are very skillful drivers when it comes down to feeling their car and it's limits. Therefore, what some people will notice may not get noticed by others, and vice versa. danny, fit a propper cage if you want to feel a big difference. I noticed a hell of a difference with a half cage in As in your red one? Did that have any pillar supports? I thought it was just attached to the floor?
May 15, 200618 yr dave has got a proper cage from fusion for about £350 and that included a rear strut brace.... i need a 3dr now! dave is a good driver to when hes not bein silly... when we went to the m6 toll it has a huge corner and dave was sat on my arse all the way round it... in a 5dr not lowered its bad... dave saw me driftin it tho.... bein a 5dr!
May 15, 200618 yr The anti roll bar on my rear rs beam made a noticable difference to the cars general feel and made it better at its limits. Ive got a front strut brace too. Braking was improved but not by a large ammount so ive got some cossie fronts to go on. Am planning on some zoo adjustable lower arms as my really wide compomotives have made the camber all wrong, poly bushes all over the place and a rear brace. Not sure on the suspension yet, can only really lower it 30mm and im not splashing out on coilovers so it will probably be koni dampers an ebaich springs as ive heard there a good combination.
