quackers
As you might remember, im having a problem with mr escort. The car now idles fine after i changed the maf, but when cold as i stop the revs drop and then go back upto 1000rpm. Its pissing me right off now, if i went into ford this week and asked if they could plug in the diagnostics machine. How much do you think they'd charge me? Will it pick up the problem? Is it worth me doing it? Help Chaps!

Kirsty
depends, i got charged £25 for a full scan. i think main dealers are about £50 ish. i thought it was the idle control valve fucked on my car but turns out its either the maf or the throttle position sensor. stuck another throttle position sensor but its not that so must be the maf so the bloke said to take it back and swap it for a maf they were the only faults it came up with so hopefully ones gonna fix it lol

quackers
How is the air con connected into the idleing system? I've just had mine on, the revs were acting the same like the car was cold as i described above. Is it connected to the idle control valve in any way? quackers
Ford are a bad gang of cowboys, they wanted 70 quid to plug the car in. I went to a small garage around the corner and they charged me 15 quid! It only took 10 mintues! It came back clean though, no error codes. He reckons the idle control valve needs cleaning. Now how do i take the fooker off?
