RS2000
Took an ST Focus out for a test drive today, nice cars and quite impresed with them. can't make my mind up yet, and then there's the RS Focus, not driven one yet, but like the look of them. What would you choose between the two and why? BlairM
I've never driven one, but my view of the RS is that it is an out and out beast of a car, but the ST is fast yet still refined. Having spoken to an RS owner recently that seems to be their view too. This sounds silly on cars like these but I far prefer the ST's interior. sortedford
im not really a fan of either si, i think youll find them both slow
Al
I was also out for the test drive and was quite impressed, i gave the car some serious 'stick' after the salesman told me to .It stuck to the road like glue, suspension was spot on.After the cars i've owned or driven it didn't feel particulary quick but a very nice 'allrounder' something i could enjoy.............speed isn't everything to me, i'd much rather have an allrounder.I'll give the RS Focus a go next, possibily what i might go for. Stezz
I went to test drive the RS when it first came out and I must say that it left me upset a bit. Sure it was quite pokey when you planted the thottle but that diff made it so twitchy in the courners

Personally I'd choose the ST3 as I think is a really nice car, quite a refined high spec for the money as well.I'd seriously consider getting one if they did an estate version Bet there are some serious power gains to be had from the ST engine just by having a custom remap done. AndyCanning
We all know he is just going to buy one, then wait a few months and then buy the other thats true! personally after seein both cars in action i would get the st3 as said already... the focus rs isnt comfortable and boy do you fell every pothole and markin in the road..great if ya want to use it at the weekend.. i would find myself aggravated after drivin it because i have been in the st... we nearly got an st3 instead of the pre-owned m3.... but m3 is better than the st3 and was the same price you have had a sierra cossie havent you? my dad has one and compared to the st it doesnt excite him as much in the st compared to the cossie... after you drive an rs you will see how awful the drive is compared the st.. the st is very relaxin and comfy for passengers etc and when you want to boot it its still comfy
basskiddanny
Driving that TVR though....comfort can't be TOO important to him. They are gorgeous cars but i don't think the point of the TVR is mainly for comfort?
AndyCanning
yes sure but any driver needs to own a tvr... its like i bet he has had and alfa at some time to..
dansGTI
The bonus with the RS is, it will hold its value better than the ST in years to come. If they had have badged the ST with 'RS' instead, it would hold its value better. Its all in the badge............... i may be proved wrong though. K3V HA
Seriously, Astra VXR, better looking, more power than both! Get one with IDS and it'll out handle both too!!
basskiddanny
Seriously, Astra VXR, better looking, more power than both! Get one with IDS and it'll out handle both too!! All the reviews i have read say that it doesn't handle as well as the Focus ST, Costs more to buy, and can't be driven as "leisurely" as the ST can be. So its more of an all or nothing sort of car. Although i have no experience driving them myself lol. But people should realise he will have owned all 3 cars eventually! Its just deciding which order to get them in!! I would test drive all 3 and choose the ones that nicest to drive. I also see a lot more Focus ST's around than i see Focus RS or Astra VXR's. I don't know what it is like around where you live, but i suppose having a VXR would make you stand out slightly more....You could keep the TVR though Edited July 16, 2006 by basskiddanny
RS2000
Some interesting points. The one thing i like about the ST is it's smooth ride and every day useability. Will get round to test driving the RS at some point.the VXR is not on my list of cars i want to own, never been a fan of Vauxhall. Might get another EVO thoughOr a Lotus ExigeOr an M3Or Esc cos.....???????
