Craig855S
Ive declared my engine change to the DVLA and i have a new V5 saying 1.8 But when getting insurance quotes the system still comes up 1.6 when i put my reg in, theres a way of finding out ur engine size on a non insurance website, what is this??? barryboys use it on their threads to find out the engine sizes of the vehicles they take the Pee out of, wondering how they do it? ANT
when doing an online quote u'll find it must be standard/unmodified in any way. most online quoting systems will tell you to call them if u have modifications.
Craig855S
but the DVLA have it as a 1.8, so when my reg is inputted it shud check DVLA records to find out the details of the car,and its a 1.8 on there. so why wont the insurance sites reflect that. Ive called bell and told them its a 1.8 not a 1.6 and they sorted it ok but i just want to know if the DVLA site have it as a 1800
Kirsty
but too the insurance companies its still classed as a modification regardless of the fact its a 1.8. at the end of the day as far as the insurance companies are concerned its a 1.6 with a 1.8 engine in it. so you need to declare it to the insurance company as that. Fran
Clicky clicky If you type in your number plate here it says what engine size it is recorded as.
Craig855S
its wrong,it has to be wrong. Is that check performed with the DVLA live or does it check a database thats updated every so often. The DVLA know its a 1.8 now and i have a V5 to show this, but everywhere ive looked online brings up 1.
ANT
that is RAC.. prob take time to get details. prob get and database update every now and then but certainly wont be instant
Fran
that was the only place i could think of that is free. if you did a HPI check then you might get what you are looking for, but tbh the insurance know its a 1.8L and so does the DVLA so if anything ever happened then you are legally covered and everything!
