Beat Master BoB Posted July 17, 2006 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Ok so you get your whatever calipers from the scrap yard and they are covered in rust and other shite ... whats the best way to go about cleaning them up and getting them ready for painting ??? I have some 170 calipers, have wire brushed them loads, soaked them in brake cleaner, and continued wire brushing some more and nothings really happening ... Please Help! BoB Im refurbing some cosse 2wd ones at the mo. I strip them down fully, includign the piston. Wire brushed them to death and painted them with brake laquer. Now goin to fit new seals.The only pain in the arse now is getting the piston dust seal in.... it seems impossible.. Jason Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Beat Master BoB Posted July 18, 2006 Author Share Posted July 18, 2006 I am gunna try some of that 'hammerite rust remover dip' I think, apparently you just leave your rusty bits submerged in it overnite and then just wirebrush it off "with ease" 24 hours later!
