Craig855S
what model is that? MY95???and what edition? WRX?STI? Spoiler isnt the best out there but it still looks good (i prefer the STI spoiler any day) Love scoobies, really want one myself but im afraid of reliability when modded, and also the fact if i were to get one it'd have to be a 99 or later
kidda
it is a uk my95 wrx but it has a jap RA engine in there giving it a little more poke (so i have been told aint really up on scoobies) I wouldnt really know what RA meant when it comes to scooby engines but i have been told its good and it feels like it has more poke than a mates jap wrx so alls good
Craig855S
ive read up on scoobies in the best and the RA was something special. I even think its got better pistons than the WRX so they wont melt as easily. If u aint up on scoobies id watch what u do with regards to modding them,an awful lot of people kill engines cos they mod without thinking
kidda
i have heard bad stories about blown transmissions, fast enough for me as is, maybe an intercooler spray kit but other than that i am happy with it as is (apart from styling and thats only the facelift) anyway i just like the noise of a flat four
Harvez
LOL ive never heard off modded Scoobys having silly amunts off problems, a mates 600bhp ..... yeh 600bhp never has any problems and spins up i think in third ? Not sure about that. The Type RA is the lightened down version by 20kg and has no sound deading so its alot noiser drive thats about it Does yours have the Adjustable diff ? DCCD ?? Scoop everything you said was 100% bullcrap, and mayb you should stop reading Micky Mouse's guide to Subaru's. Any other help just pm me It'll look brill with a facelift mate
kidda
to be honest i have no idea what an RA engine actually is lolAdjustable diff, truthly i have no idea matey I am happy with her, found a company that does facelifts in carbon for £650 all in, sounds like a bargain to me
Al
I've got a Scooby as well, 2003 model Blobeye WRX with PPP and Prodrive suspension. My engine went at 34K due to a big end bearing fault .................all is well now with a full rebuild.I guess i was just unlucky.Properly looked after they are a very good car, thing is you never know how the previous owner/s have treated it. Craig855S
so upping the boost on a poverty spec engine and retaining the top mount, whilst not altering fuelling will not melt pistons will it not? some1 i know has killed 3 engines due to lean running
JDMRS2000
Thats just stupid upping the boost without altering the fuelling anyhow, talk about WANTING to kill your engines!!! I dont know a lot about the scoobs, besides my cuz having 2, but surely you need to re-map them when altering the boost, which will give you the extra fuelling anyhow?? Just thought id have my say, maybe im wrong, it has been known in the past lol
Craig855S
aforementioned person thought the MAP sensor would compensate for the extra air obviously, and even with a chip the top mount hardly helps ACTemps so that can melty the pistons too
AutomodellistaGT
NERD mode on No such thing as a classic UK WRX, all UK turbo models were called 'turbo 2000' till the bugeye model was introduced in 2001 when the japanese system of WRX and STI was introduced Harv it cant have a dccd (driver controlled centre differential) The first UK car to have a DCCD was the WR1 of 2004 (presuming its standard) Has to be a UK car cos the japs didnt have it green, we did cos stupid IM (the company that imports scoobies offically) marketed the subaru in line with their forester and legacy models as a farmers machine. RA stand for 'Race Altered' and featured little sound deadening and varied between models. For example the WRX RA featured no underseal and no spoiler, windy windows only, a 'closed deck' (read stronger) engine block etc where as some of the STI RA's were more well furnished. i think thats about it nerd mode OFF nice btw
