just a couple of questions if i may

OK heres just a few questions i would like to know the answer to if at all possible.

1, i purchased my mkV escort cabriolet on a K plate and i have been told that it has only done 35k miles???

this i find extremely hard to believe as its a K plate. but then it seems so proposturose that i could even be true, i mean who would lie like that much??? i would like to know if there is a way of finding out an almost exact milage for this vehicle.

2, is there any one in Essex near Epping who is a bit handy when it come s to auto electricals?? i have several probs with my XR3i cabriolet which i really need to sort out so i can get it in for a MOT. most of the things i think dont count in an MOT n e way but for my own safety driving the vehicle to the MOT center could be dangerous so i wish to fix these probs first.

thanks all

That does seem very low indeed. How worn does the interior look? You should be able to tell from the drivers seat :)

Apart from old MOTs, the only way I can think of to certify mileage is to ask the DVLA. When the registered keeper of a car changes, there is an option to write in the mileage for their records.

Not sure exactly how you go about finding out though :)

Yeah, bear in mind that if its done over 100k, it will start from '0'again. It doesnt have that 6th digit like more modern cars. Look at the pedals (if the originals are there), seats, steering wheel and believe it or not, i think a good one is the seat belt.............. The material should be like new and the edges should not be fraying. Ive always found this one useful, its one thing people dont think of changing if they are going to scam you. (they just bother with the steering wheel, pedals etc.

Thi interior is pretty well kept only a couple of fag burns no fadeing from excessive use the seat belts still look like new also. i havent got n e old mot certificates yet. but i will try asking the dvla i was just hopeing there was an easier way rather than writing to them as that is what i believe i need to do.

thanks all

  • 1 month later...

ok ive found the service record for the car and there are 5 entries in it. i was told the car has been off the road for some time due to the fact the guy who had it before the guy before me was gonna do it up etc

the entries are as follows:

3 month or 1500 miles

date: 13-7-93

milage: 2926

1 year or 10000 miles

date: 9-10-94

milage: 7421

2 year or 20000 miles

date: 24-3-96

milage: 15211

3 years or 30000 miles

date: 12-2-98

milage: 22311

4 year 04 40000 miles

date: 23-4-2000

milage: 27419

so i suppose it is possible for the vehicle to only have 37k miles on it, he doesnt seem to have driven it to much over the first 4 years or so.

maybe i have a result or maybe its all bollox and its flse information. like i said thougjh ive checked what you guys have told me to look for and all seems original, seatbelts are as new etc.

what do you think??
