dansGTI
Anybody that has read the part in the mechanical section will know where i am coming from. Today i have managed to: Fix the power steering pump, replaced the back lights, given it a full service, got a new tyre and front wheel alignment corrected, nice new headunit fitted, fitted some mud flaps, replaced air hoses, MAF, and anything i could get my hands on The car had been smoking really bad. I took the plugs out and 1 and 3 were BLACK, 2 and 4 were normal..... The oil was so shite, im wouldnt be shocked if you could lay a road with it! It was just yuk! Cleaned the air filter, and Shite loads of stuff! Put it all back together..............................started it up........... NO SMOKE! I NEARLY Fcuking FAINTED! Drove it and its lots better! Idle is still a problem, but its a huge step! Maybe the car will live after all! I DONT KNOW WHY IM SO CHUFFED, BUT I AM!

dansGTI
Everything for the service (inc. oil filter). Except induction kit, just cleaned it. Idling is still a bit rubbish, but smoke has reduced so much. I cant see it now, it smells a little smoky still, but its changed my mind on the car! Im hoping it will just improve, or it may just get worse when the spark plugs go black again. Im now going to get it checked out, im thinking the fueling is screwed up. dansGTI
Yeah i know! I just wanted it running for the time being. Now i can contemplate what to do with it. EITHER: do a few bits and bobs and then sell it, OR 2 litre it, full respray, cage, graphite rally decals.......................... OPINIONS ANYBODY? Trouble is, i would want 200bhp (thats what my Astra has!)
