tidykart
Ye cheers mate, appreciate that, bout 2 mins after I had posted the topic I found that ya just turned on an open public day then pay for however many laps ya want. Have checked out that nurburg site aswell but cheers for getting the info. Wish there was a Englsihg button ya could press! There's 3 of us going so will get a 8 lap ticket then a 4 lap one, so we got 4 laps each, that's about over an hours worth of driving which should be enough (not for us) but for the car. Cheers Andy though.
Harvez
Just be warned mate if you crash its going to be a VERY expensive day out, remember to check the prices for track closure, recovery, replacing the armco's etc etc
mutley
Just be warned mate if you crash its going to be a VERY expensive day out, remember to check the prices for track closure, recovery, replacing the armco's etc etc yep ive seen a few peoples bills in the past.. end of the day if your being sensible with your driving and not driving like a cock and trying to beat the lap record youll be fine, might be worth doing a few trackdays at somewhere like bedford autodrome first get to know the car and its limits a bit more
SiScort
I've been there a few times on project gotham 3 if that counts PMSL but yeah, be careful and take it easy, as mentioned, VERY expensive if you have an accident, the costs of repairs to the tracks and recovery is extortionate, It may be worth hitching a ride to learn the track before hand
mk1dub
It may be worth hitching a ride to learn the track before hand That would be a very good idea indeed.
tidykart
Ye hear what ya all sayin and ye the bills are huge if ya hit something, I know I've looked, trust me I've drilled this into one of the guys who is going with me, cause he's not the best driver. But I don't think I'll need pratice controlling a car, I karted for 8 years, driven silverstone international and touring car circuit, thruxton and Brands Hatch-that's not being big headed- it's what I've been telling the other two and telling them how easy it is to over step the mark and told them exactly what you've lot said that we're going there for the experience not to break any records! And ye have been looking into recovery, it's only £30 so that will be a must too ;-)
SiScort
not being funny mate but although experience driving a kart is handy it doesnt compare to the most demanding race course in the world. Hit the karousell wrong for example and you're f*cked mate, game over. You need to know it well, its not a 1.5 mile track, it long and demanding. sortedford
doesnt insurance cover damages? seen as its not classes as a track, but a toll road i was told?
Harvez
I dont think so Ian. I was reading on the MLR about some guy who went on his mates Stag night, he is a regular down at the ring in his 205 . . . and either him or a mate had a problem with the car and spilt a little bit off oil and they decided to close the track for the remaining half hour of the day and sent him a 5 figure number cheque !! If you have the experance you say then mate, then you should be able to control yourself to do a couple of slow paced laps to learn the track fully and escort your mates around. Gran Turismo everyone always says is a good place to learn the corners, BUT it gives you no idea off the gradiants and everything like that . . . . If you're mate isnt the best driver, and doesnt carry much experance do you really think its a good idea. Not just from your purspecive, i know if i was coming off a corner with speed i wouldnt want a un-experanced driver to sway out in front off me or anything off that kind off stuff cause ive seen that happen on some videos too BUt saying all that everyone who's been always says its such a experance and i hope our organisers can finally get around to sorting out the EscortEVO trip
tidykart
Ye I know and I hear what ya all are saying but they are two of my most closest mates I trust um'. We've decided to organise and do everything off our own back. We've wanted to do this since we were 17. But neva got round to it. I undastand the risks and I will be drilling it into the other two. As someone said it is a once in a lifetime thing, and I know the risks but if we don't do it now we're never gona do it. Oh ye and I knwo that GT4 doesn't illistrate what the actual circuit will be like in terms of gradients, apex's, the different heights, braking points etc, but at least we will know right there is a left turning coming up here on this bit is straight! We haven't gota proove anything to anyone it's just about having a laugh and driving the greatest circuit in the world. Just gota make sure evrything goes well, it's about getting the balance between fun and being safe. With as little cost as possible.
