car damaged underneath by garage using trolley jack

hi,

i had both front wheels removed from my car to have them refurbished.

the finish on both wheels is not very good either on further inspection.

as left the place i heard something dragging on the road and found the n/s front jacking point out.

i tried putting it back but i have found damage to both front jacking points on the sill, the join of the sill that runs along the bottom of the car has been squashed flat onto the skirt .

This is making it difficult to fit the cover back into the skirt.

i do not know if any other damage has been done underneath as i haven't been able to check

they have used a trolley jack to raise the car up and have used this on several cars.

i returned to the garage and showed them the damage but they first tried to say it was corrosion in the sill that may of caused this.

i replied that sill was in perfect condition and solid as i had used the jacking points recently with the car jack ok.

i was then told that i would have to speak to the owner tommorow as he wasn't into day(this was true as he wasn't in when i dropped the car off and i was told so).

i went home and looked through the owners handbook and the car should not be jacked up using a trolly jack on the front jacking points.

i will try to speak to the owner but what should i do if he is unhelpful,do i contact my insurance to deal with it as the repair could be costly.

get the work done and take him to the small claims court.

what would you do?

Dude that happened to mine some idiot used a flat plate on a trolly jack and flattened the lip worse than yours. It does pull back into shape, just get it as straight as you can so the jack cover fits back on. If your really worried about it corroding get some underseal and paint it on it won't rust then. You'll know if you've got it straight enough by getting your fordy jack and if the lip on the car fits in the groove on the jack your sorted.

tried to get them to sort it out but not having any luck.

contacted trading standards who adivised me that i contact the company with a letter as they are in breech of contract as they failed to take good care of the car.this letter will include a quote for the damage + any costs incurred i.e time off work, petrol, phone calls etc.

if the do not pay or fail to respond i will have to take them to court.

it appears after talking to several local bodyshops that they have done this to several cars.

i only went there as i was recommend by two people
