Right, the Peugeot of mine... its having a bit of a screaming time when sat anything over 60mph  .....

ill explain :)) , when driving on a motorway or driving anything over 60mph, the engine is roaring and sitting at around 5500 Revs  , sometimes even 6000, its really loud and ive never heard it roar like that before, ive stuffed the back box to see if there was any leaks and there must not be because the car stalls because it cant breath :O , any ideas as to why its all of a sudden started to sit to high with the revs, also when stationary the revs sit below 10,000 thousand where as it use to sit just on 10,000

dont know if it helps but when you start the car up its got 3000 miles before its due a service, could an oil change be in order or anything like that????

thankyou, Lee :thumb:

Exhaust loose would make it rev higher.... HOW?

Look, does it ACTUALLY rev as high as you say it does, or does it just sound a little bit loud?? :camp:

I.E. are the revs normal, and the engine just sounds louder?

EDIT: LOL! Of course the clutch will seem fine when you're driving it!!!!!!!      You let the clutch in at about 1500rpm max, cos you only drive in the car parks.. FPMSL!

Take it to a garage, let them sort it.

it will be ur clutch or gearbox mate. When the engines spinning at 5,500 -6000 in fifth then u shud really be flying. The engine CANT rev higher and equal a different speed unless the clutch is slipping or the gearbox has really shat its guts. Take it to a garage, pot haste. Are the rest of the gears ok (ie/ does 4th do similar revs at stupidly low speeds) and until u get it to a garage i suggest its more economical to drive in 4th at 60 as that wont even be 5,500RPM.And get ya pug in the bin, this is an escort site

First of all ralph.... yes it does rev about 6 x100 when doing about 60-70mph..... and it is more louder probably because its revs are higher than usual....

and secondly i dont let the clutch out at 1500rpm max, as i dont drive in car parks, im actually on the insurance to drive the car....

its just sitting a bit high when driving, and low when stationary

ITS BONED,its not sitting a little high, its well high, and 1000 at idle is HIGH, idle shud be 700-900. Even my 100,000 mile zetec idles under a grand

Take it to peugeot, its under warranty,by driving it ur just gonna make it worse, its not the sort of thing that will go away with time
