Orion Cosworth 4x4 (update 9th August 2012)

So, I want to strip the paint, and stone chip type stuff off the bottom of the car. (back to bare metal).

I need to use products that have a very long life, that stop/prevent corrosion etc.

I know you can't really tell from the picture, but this is the state it's in at the minute (plus a coat of black hammerite)

Any suggestions ?

I'll post this in cosmetics too.

  • 3 weeks later...

After a short break there has been some progress again.

A number of suspension components were dropped off to a local powdercoating company, should be ready on Friday (hopefully).

Also started painting some other smaller bits, propshaft & pedals

I was thinking about changing the clutch ratchet out for an alloy one, however I can't find any at all online now !?

Has anyone seen anywhere that does them ?

Not lately, no...

You really want THIS. Fault proof solutions. I managed to get RWD one on ebay for £90. Eternal piece of mind.

That won't fit, I've got the original pedal box, although slightly modified.

I did see that you could get the parts from Ford for this conversion for a Fiesta, I guess it's possible they do that for an Escort too.
