cossiecab Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 My mate is sellin his fezzie turbo, its very nice but when it comes to cars he aint the sharpest tool in the box and didnt check it out properly cus basicaly he dont know what to look for. Anyway I advertised it on the web for him with pics and a local lad went to look at it but descovered theres no chassis number! It hasnt been ground away there just aint one. The bloke he bought it off six months ago said he re-built the whole car, so this to me makes me think it must have been re-shelled at some stage, but does anyone know if, when you buy a bare shell does it come with chassis number?? or are all shells registered/marked up etc... I've told him to get a hpi check but if this is clear who or what should he do/ask for advice. Or do I tell him it aint worth half a curley wurley, offer him a ton and have it as a 1/4 mile car! LOL Cheers.
Twisted Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Bad position to be in mate If it was reshelled the i think it would have to go on a Q unless it was inspected by i think the M.O.T and they have the power to say enough of the doner car was used to carry its identity too. Then on the other bad side you could take it somewhere for an inspection and end up with the Rozzers keepin it I wouldn't touch it but then again if you dig deep enough it might not be as bad as i've said
cossiecab Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 Where should it be taken for inspection/approval etc.... I dont know wether he's got the logbook, knowing him probally not!Its got quite a bit of kit in it/on it so would probally get somewhere near the asking price (£2700) in parts. If it does turn out bad news I'd have it off him just for trackin and sprintin, rip the interior out etc. CheeRS.
Twisted Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 think you'd have to contact the DVLC / DVLA and they would send someone out.If its bad news and its previously been stolen he can say Bye Bye, cos they'll take it away for good. No Logbook hope that aint true
Al Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Just don't bother.........there are lots of others about!! Al.
cossiecab Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 Just don't bother.........there are lots of others about!! Al. Dont worry I aint buyin it!!! Just interested cus someone has gone to a lot of trouble, ie, Full respray, 15"super T's, Cossie brake conv, decent suspension, recon engine, expensive clifford concept jobbie, 1K's worth of stereo. Just wonderin why it aint got a chassis no. and no signs of grinding away etc... Hmmmm that respray now a bit dubious? Still gotta be worth a fair bit in parts if worst comes to worst. What I meant if I did have it off him for right price I could flog the parts and have a trailered sprint car.
sortedford Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 imo u can get tools to stamp stuff, put it in yourself
cossiecab Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 LOL. It does look the part though. Think he's a bit pissed off, but he's loaded though so I'll still sleep tonight.
Waxmonkey Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 bloody 'ell. Nice car n' that but are the binmen on strike down there?
Colin Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 That's nice mate, good combo, 15's Oz's, and radient red on the RS! Theres a xr3i around here thats the same, and it always looks excellent! As for the mate, well, couldn't he "find" a plate from somewhere? maybe get one made?
RS2000 Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 just move it a couple of feet to the right... I'm sure the bin men will take it in the morning
Evv Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 just move it a couple of feet to the right... I'm sure the bin men will take it in the morning
cossiecab Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 I aint normally a fan of bean tins but this one looks pretty sweet even if it may be a ringer
RS2000 Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Personaly i wouldn't touch a car with no i/d, it could be anything, how do you know that it has the right plates on the car????Don't think i would run the risk of asking to many questions either, might end up with no car at all!!!! If i was the unfortunate ( or stupid) owner, i would just shut up and try to sell it to some other poor sod, at a reasonable price ( not to cheap as some one may suspect something) if enough people look at it some one will buy it..... your mate did!
Colin Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Anyone in the world who notices that theres no vin number is gonna walk away, how does he tax the car etc, it would be on his insurance and tax forms as well, maybe its just not on the car?
