Longy Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Next Year my finance finishes on my Escort (after 4 years) what I wanna do is sell it and use the money to buy a MK6 RS2000 Escort. Because I won't have the car finance to pay I will save a lot of cash which I can use to insure the RS2000 plus I'll be 25 to. What do you reckon I could get for my Escort? 3500?(60k, 1996 P Reg, 1.8si, ABS etc) Just looking in the back of performance ford theres 2 red Mk6 RS2000 which are 3750k and 4999k. I would have to get a small loan to pay the difference. Would it be worth it do you reckon? all the messing about and stuff.
Twisted Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 once your finance is payed off save the money you would be paying out to go towards an RS2000 that way you wont have anymore loans
Colin Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I will be honest with you, on the mk5/6 model RS2k all you are paying for is not only the name, but the engine, there is NOTHING else different. Fair enoguh a 150 bhp twin cam is very tempting, but you could EASILY have this sorta preformance from the 1.8 si for under £1500, and then you would still have all the cool bodywork. Save your money mate, hell you even have rs2k side skirts on your current motor, keep it, you know it makes sense!
Lee R Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 , but you could EASILY have this sorta preformance from the 1.8 si for under £1500, Can you????? Explain Longy, I reckon you'd be looking at 3k max to be honest for yours...
Al Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Well said Heero................buy a nice little Civic CRX, or similar! Al.
Twisted Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I had a MK6 RS2000 N reg. Wish i kept it, fabulous under-rated car, just needs some rims etc
sortedford Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 have u thought bout a engine transplant mate?
Colin Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Humm, mind you, by the time you spend £500 quid on a mondeo engine, another £600 for getting it fitted and god knows what else for cams chips etc, it could be dam expensive, might be cheaper to go for the car.............
RS2000 Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I've had a few, go quite well once chipped & cammed
RS2000 Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 And they sound the dogs bollox with an induction kit
m888arc Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 buy a clio williams......... mental cars!!! just love these little cars , he he
Longy Posted February 24, 2003 Author Posted February 24, 2003 Cheers for your opinions, I'm just gonna wait and see. Don't really want to get a different make of car cause I like the Escort just want some extra umph in it. maybe way up the costs of a Engine transplant or something I dunno. If I do sell it yes Jordan you get first refusal
sorted4 Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 get a 2 litre zetec transplant deano did and got 160 bhp, but i get rs 2k nothing like a new car , i reckon u could get 4k for your car as it mint
Pete Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I think you get to a certain stage of car ownership where you know pretty much everything about the car. Thats where I am anyway, and for the price I'd get for mine I'd rather keep it and 'play' with the engine I've spent so much on it that it makes sense to keep it :] Just my opinion
