jp Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 i have read that you have recently fitted a 2l throttle body to your car and i was wondering if you have felt any difference or not?
BadBoy Remixed Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 i was wondering the same i remember one of the posts the sum of 172bhp was posted with use of throttle bodies and full exhaust sytem on a 1.8?
T9BY G Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 I remember reading that, but whoever said that was talking out of their arse. You will probably feel a difference but not that much of a jump. Im intrested in getting one for my 1.6
leic_lad Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 lmao spoke 2 m8 hows got his own garage in elicester n he told me 2 get 2.0 body n system so thats my things 2 by n thew months ment 2 give around 40bhp if u de cat it as well
Mk6 Si Ross Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 i was wondering the same i remember one of the posts the sum of 172bhp was posted with use of throttle bodies and full exhaust sytem on a 1.8? i think people are getting confused here between a Mondeo 2.0ltr throttle body which does very little and a full set of throttle bodies which with the right mods could take a 1.8 to 175bhp.

leic_lad Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Mondeo 2.0ltr throttle body i was told n full power flow or asley system extra 40 bhp on a 1.8 y dont u think thats right then??
Mk6 Si Ross Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 no chance, not a hope in hell, sorry, you`d have to spend around 3-5 grand to get anywhere near 170 brake. Zetecs are pricey to get anything extra out of. Can`t just change some plugs n a filter n come up with 10 or 20 bhp.
JonC Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 yeah the mondeo 2ltr throttle body is just a new butterfly which is slightly largerits a half hour job max to fitsince fitting it my car idle has changed from 1000rpm to 800rpmon take off i notice no initial improvement, after 4000rpm it seems to pull a bit bettertop end on motorway seemed easier to reach and slightly faster than before Ive had it on my car 2days and im still working it out most noticable on a motorway blast... put it this way its not +10bhpbut i reckon maybe 1 or 2 bhpi could be wrong but a difference was definatly noticeable if only a minor one...Ive gotta get my car superchipped ASAP and get them to set it up and give it a tune upI reckon then with the air/fuel mixture changed in the ECU and the car setup to run on optimax only with its higher octane rating the car will go faster... Full-How-To is gonna be available soon, ive sent the pics i took during fitting to Ian and hes gonna create a page for it soon as he can.. its easy with the correct toolsoh and correct me if im wrong anyone cos im a noob under the bonnet...
Mk6 Si Ross Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 end of the day the throttle body is a slightly different size on the 2.0 to the 1.8 so creates a different airflow to the Escort when fitting the Mondy one.
T9BY G Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 At last a pic! I now know what part your talking about! Coz im a bit of a dufus when it comes to mechanical things too!
JonC Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 see how the left hand throttle body (the 1,8 one)it tapers andf gets smaller as u go deeperthe right hand throttle body is same size all the way thru
