mexico_16v
When i start my car from cold, it start's fine. But while it is still cold it rev's at about 3000 rpm and will only shut up when warm or when i put it in gear and bring the clutch to it's biting point. I have been told by a mate were i work it coould be the idle control valve?? any idea's would be good. Cheers.
ScORTED
theres a guide to cleaning the iscv somewhere... try cleaning it as the often get gunked up with carbon, the valve itself rarely fails

Stu
It most likely is the ISCV. Cleaning doesn't really work. Replacing the valve with a genuine one from Ford is the only true solution. They always fail (wear).

Stu
If you search the forums for 'iscv' or 'idle', you'll find about ten gazillion problems relating to this.
ScORTED
its a common fault most people can't be arsed to fix it - me included
Stu
The valve wears. Crap gets stuck in the worn gap. Cleaning it just opens up this worn gap for more crap to fill quickly. If it does work, it's a short term solution. Some people will say it works for a long time, but then the idle valve probably wasn't the problem to begin with. mexico_16v
i imagine your not fitting your clutches right or you rag the fcuk out of your carmy 1st one went while i was after a corsa, the second one went because of the flywheel being warped, about 200 miles after being replaced and this is my 3rd one and she's doing just fine
ScORTED
fairdoos so really you fooked the first one which came with the car giving it some, warped the flywheel which fooked the second one, so its not quite as bad as it sounds. clean the iscv as they aren't cheap,if its still not right replace it
