Stu
15mm lower.
DIDZ
which is it? as i no the beams etc are all the same (bar RS) so are the shocks or springs/ both shorter as i always thought they looked lower.
ryan_gwa
Ive also heard that the GTi sits 15mm lower, aswell as the Rs beam. Mine is lowered 40mm as it is, so I've kept my standard rears incase it sits too low when I fit my Rs beam.
Stu
The GTI and RS springs drop the car by 15mm.
DIDZ
but it's the rear beam not the springs that make it -15 aint it? i no my scort dropped 15mm when i fitted the beam. Ryan- if u droppe the rear with -40 springs it wud only mean it dropped 25mm more. as u would of removed the standard (-15) springs to fit -40. so beam wud still be fine with atotal of -55. (presuming u changed shocks not just springs). right????????
cossy
sorted then that will be low enough especially when i get my rs beam fitted ill get mine ordered then

Stu
just been offered a set of gti springs for £25 inc postage would it be worth it They're great springs when you run them with either standard dampers or something like Konis...
cossy
so if i just swap them for my standard springs and use my dampers they will sit right and be ok? i dont want to buy them if they are going to mess up the ride of the car
Stu
It'll be fine.
cossy
cool ill get them then but saying that iv got a set of springs in my garage on some koni shocks would they go on or would they sit far to low for standard shocks?what do i need to swap them over or am i best going to a garage to get it done? DIDZ
swapping is easy undo the nut and press down real hard with a m8 to screw nut back on. if they are really tight springs though u will need spring clamps. Not sure if the springs on the koni's are best bet or not. leave that 2 some1 who has done it to say
Craig855S
Gti springs on koni dampers wud be good. "but it's the rear beam not the springs that make it -15 aint it? i no my scort dropped 15mm when i fitted the beam. Ryan- if u droppe the rear with -40 springs it wud only mean it dropped 25mm more. as u would of removed the standard (-15) springs to fit -40. so beam wud still be fine with atotal of -55. (presuming u changed shocks not just springs)." Correct. The Gti Si and RS suspensions are 15mm lower than CLs/Lxs/ghias and so on, and the RS rear beam is apparenly 10-15mm lower than the Ghias LXs CLs and SIs and GTis. figures from Gmax and koni etc state -40mma and so on and u shud refer to the fitment list to see what models they mean -40mm from IE a mk6 escort -40 kit will more than likely mean 40mm lower than base suspensiona mk6 escort GTI/RS -40 kit will obviously mean 40 lower than they are standard which makes ur car 55mm lower than a ghia, but i doubt they make a seperate kit to lower RSs more
