another throttlebody question!

was giving mine a clean the other day, (which by the way, has sorted all my idleing problems!! :) ) and noticed that on the under side of the disc (not very technical im afraid) there is a number 2.. now my mate, recently changed his 1.6 throttle body, for a 1.8, on the underside of the 1.6, it says 1 and under the 1.8 it says 1.5, and he swears my throttle body is bigger than his.. now does this mean mine has already been changed to possibly a 2.0 throttle body, or, are we both a pair of numptys who havent got a clue what were on about.

also, if mine has been changed, will it make any differnce changing back to the 1.8, or will it make no difference?

Cheers in advance!

How did you clean it? You know there are special coatings on the inside of the housing and on the throttle butterfly? :)

the state of mine, i doubt very much there was a special coating of anything left, so just used a damp cloth.. is there anything i can use to replace the special coating though?

Nah it will still be there if you only used a damp cloth, that's fine. Taking scotchbrite or wet'n'dry to it will destroy it. It's actually there to slow down the build up of crap..

With regards to your initial question... the 1.6 and 1.8 TB's are the same size.. sure, maybe different part numbers, same size though.. I've measured both!

ok cheers mate..

so regards to the 3 different numbers, and what both of us are pretty sure of, 3 different sizes? any ideas...

there was a defintate size difference between his definate 1.6 tb and mine.. could that mean, he's replaced his with one of the same size, and mine is actually a 2.0 tb?

apologies if that dont make much sense..

I am not 100% sure if the early and late manifolds use identical 1.8 throttle bodies. It's possible the 115PS engine uses an inbetween TB. If you measure it tomorrow and let me know the diameter I can tell you which one it is, or if it's completely different! :)
