Terry
Hi Everyone. I have a P reg 1.6 GTi Rep, i took it in for a service at my local garage and a pre MOT check and it has the following stuff wrong with it: Needs New NSF TyreCentre Exhaust as blowingNSF CV Boot splitBall joint splitNSF wheel bearing has playOSF electric window not workingLight switch faultyOSF brake pipes rustingSlight MissfireRear gearbox mounts perished after the garage telling me its going to cost from around £400 depending on labour i was quite happy to stretch myself to pay for it all to get through the MOT. So thinking i would save a bit of money i went and go the centre exhaust and tyre done for 89 quid. I had also notice before taking the car for the service and MOT that when driving the car something near the front would clunk when accelerating as if i had run over something. i asked at the garage what this was and he said it would be the NSF CV boot. A couple of days later (After not driving the car) i drove it to the garage to have the work done on it and the garage phone me up after an hour or 2 and say i also need a new gear box!!!! and its gonna cost quite a bit 800 - 900 quid! In total. I told them not to do the work and went to pick it up in my lunch hour. After putting a fivers worth of petrol in, i got a mile down the road and the cluncking noise seemed to be much much worse that it was before happening every time i changed gear and accelerating. eventually something jolted the car and i couldnt go anywhere all i could hear was a griding noise and then a jolt from the car. The car is now sitting on my drive and im not sure what to do with it? its a lovely car (apart from all the stuff thats wrong with it) and am sad that i cant afford to repair it as the repairs are probaly worth more that the car. I cant be bothered to mess around breaking it, How much do you think its worth just selling it as it is? The car is a 1997 P reg 1.6 Cabaret in Radiant Red. Its done 88511 miles I had a look on the parkers website and it say £385 in poor condition http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/...mp;buysell=sell I took these picture this morning after taking my sub, speakers and head unit out. Has cobra remote locking/alarm Had a new 4" backbox put on about 3 months ago which has a real nice deep grunt to it. Has a bit of bubbling rust on rear wheel arch
ScORTED
theres a guy selling a 2.0 si for £300 and all thats wrong with that is one easy to change engine mount has snapped, if you can't do the repairs yourself your not going to get more than £300 on a very good day to someone with more money than sense... realisitc price £200 you'd be better off breaking it numberplate is appropriate

sidrick
Worth nothing as it is. A gearbox is £50 and if you have the tools and time, all of ther mentioned work can be carried out yourself.
white_van_man
as mentioned if you can't do the work yourself or get a mate to help its not worth repairing, best option would be to break it for parts
reid
i'll give you £75 for it.(not a dig, but no mot, very little tax and needing a load of work)
Hezz
easiest option is to let reid buy it and then buy another

andymcnichol
well u can have my 2.0 mk6 escort 3door for 275! needs gearbox mount done, thats all. body work needs attention, thats why its getting sold cheap, needs wing spraying, it has 1 coat of paint over the primer so looks almost normal but needs finishing and has a little bit of rust on bottom of drivers door
Joe
Gutted for you mate, Im sure you wont want to carry out all that work yourself. Maybe get the little bits done, and take it to an ''easy pass'' MOT garage. Breaking would be a good option too...
