JC
Think the guy was having you on mate! Colour coding door handles is the way forward! With the ones sent, to colour code them: (Amparo Blue?) How i did mine: 1) Roughen the surface with an abrasive sandpaper. This removes the "grainy" surface and allows the primer to stick. 2) Light coat of PLASTIC primer, leave to dry fully and sand with wet and dry paper to a smooth surface 3) Second coat of primer and sand with wet and dry to smooth surface. Any imperfections here will be mirrored in the paint layer. Leave to dry. 4) 2 coats of paint. Smooth between each coat. When the second coat has fully dried use wet and dry paper with plenty of soap. To make the coat look dull and smooth. 5) Apply lacour (sp?), brings out the shine. At least two coats. And from a reasonable distance. 6) Leave to dry fully for a while before fitting This is what mine look like when done that method. Light is a bit funny in the pic: A massive improvement on black plastic! (In progress of sorting a set out for the GTi )
