bonnet stuck

the cable has fell off the realse catch for the bonnet , i was told i have to take off the front bumper to unbolt the bonnet catch to get it open . is there any other way ive banged it smashed it and it wont open lol

agreed. Front bumper off and see from there,unless u have arms like a horses legs and can reach the catch to operate it with ur hands from under the car,has it fell off at the catch end or the operating handle end?

dont you need the bonet open to get the bumper off.. im sure there were some bolts u had to get to... :S

Yeah theres 4 bolts below the bonnet, if you had it up on a ramp you would probably be able to get to them.

best way......... pull the pop screws off the splash sheild just under the bumper, have someone hold it forward and snake your hand up between the engine and radiator(preferably when cold), youll likely find the cable hasnt come off but has gone slack in one of its holding clips so instead of pulling when the lever is pulled it just flex's itself.

 

grab the flailing cable and pull as best you can away from the latch in the direction it travels back into the cab, should pop the latch with only a little effort, then before ya drop the now open bonnet again check all the clips and tighten were required.

 

oh and good luck..........and erm..... mind for the manifold and heatsheild cos those annoying people can chop ya hand to ribbons
