mk6 escort 1.8 si holding revs

This problem on my car has been doing my head in for ages!!!!! :vangry:

I have already changed the idol control valve, mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, and also the temp sensor as it only does it when it is warm.

I have also disconnected the gearbox speed sensor from the multi plug and this has cured it, but i also then changed the sensor and it made no difference.

The only way i can stop this fault from coming on is to disconnect the gearbox speed sensor, but as soon as i connect it back up its holding its revs when i come to a stop, e.g at traffic lights at aprrox 2500rpm then creeps back to 750rpm where it should be.

The only thing i can think of what might be causing it is the wiring from the sensor to the ecu or a faulty ecu!

Hope some has had the same problem and can help me!

yer mine used to do this after travelling at higher speeds as in about 70 on a motorway as oppsed to 30s - 40s..kinda just stopped doing it, but since i have changed to a new lambdor sensor, ive never had the problem and always returns to idle despite what speed i do, hope this helps, Tom

Cheers mate i see what happens and let you know :thumb:
