Eoghan
Not that i wouldnt love that my escort sounded like a Subaru i know its not normal. Well heres what happened my headgasket blew and the car started to sound like a Subaru so i got all new gaskets and head bolts and fitted it all today. So started it up and it runs fine and looses no water so its not gasket failure, but it runs very rough and the only way to describe it is that it sound exclety like a boxter engine Subaru??And it seems to be under-powered and slow?First i thought timing but i kept the timing in place and marked it all and it went back on the same and did a quick check and it seems to be fine,so it must be something else as it started to do this before i touched the timing and changed the head gasket?? Any ideas??? Cheers
DanFinesse
my bros old escort did this, part of his exhaust was split, well the manifold i think, close to the engine..... that sounded really loud, and performance was Shite!
Stu
Plug leads not in the right holes on the coil? Alternatively a broken coil. Or broken leads. Or perhaps still a fouled plug or two. Basic tests are in order!
Eoghan
Plug leads are on correct hole but i had a feeling its eiter the exhaust as i put a backbox on this week or the plug leads/coil ill have to start checking tomorrow, just wanted to see if anyone had any similar problems. PeeWee
Ahh well at least you now have new gaskets, plugs & leads. This is a classic case of how diagnosing by just guesswork & swapping random parts can cost more than a garage check.

Well the headgasket was blown so it was only plugs and leads that didnt need to be replaced and thanks for that reply that was no help to anyone and shows how you think your a Fcuking god and know it all but really are just a T*at who knows fcuk all.
