tezmanian devil
evening all. im fitting a efi rst engine in my 3i, but have a few question's, and will no dout be asking more soon lol first of all, how do i keep my power steering, the rst didnt have it so where/how do i get a p/s pump? 2nd question: what engine mounts do i use? can i jus use normal mk5 cvh engine mounts? 3rd question: what sort of part's do i need for a reliable 200bhp (roughly) a list would be very helpful 4th question: what would need to be done to convert in to a 1.8 zvh, or 2.0 zvh, i know oil/water way's need blocking, but how do you do this, and are zvh very reliable, as i think blocking off oil/water way's cant be doin it any favor's... 5th question: who do you recommend to tune it all when it's all done and fitted?? 6th question: how do you time up a rs turbo engine? 7th question: how do you get the piston's off the conrod's (got new conrod's that need fitting to the piston's, but cant get them off ) sorry about all the question's but any help on the above would be great, as i dont really know a great deal atm
bluliz
2nd question: what engine mounts do i use? can i jus use normal mk5 cvh engine mounts? Yup a CVH is a CVH, so just use some 1.4 mounts. does you 3i have cvh or zetec? can never remember on the mk5a's.
Stu
first of all, how do i keep my power steering, the rst didnt have it so where/how do i get a p/s pump?I believe you can hack up a CVH PAS setup onto an RST engine. I don't know the specifics though. 2nd question: what engine mounts do i use? can i jus use normal mk5 cvh engine mounts?Yes. 3rd question: what sort of part's do i need for a reliable 200bhp (roughly) a list would be very helpful 'Stage 3' Hybrid T3 (50 trim compressor with a 0.48 A/R turbine). Big enough injectors. Different map sensor. Suitable custom remap. Big intercooler. Exhaust system. Suitable fuel pump. Preferably slightly lower compression (skim 0.060" off the standard Mahle pistons). 4th question: what would need to be done to convert in to a 1.8 zvh, or 2.0 zvh, i know oil/water way's need blocking, but how do you do this, and are zvh very reliable, as i think blocking off oil/water way's cant be doin it any favor's...Why on earth would you want to do that? Why throw away the best bit of a zetec engine (the head) and bolt on the worst part of a CVH engine (the head)? 5th question: who do you recommend to tune it all when it's all done and fitted??Ahmed Bayjoo. 6th question: how do you time up a rs turbo engine?Assuming you're still asking about a EFI engine, then, you don't. 7th question: how do you get the piston's off the conrod's (got new conrod's that need fitting to the piston's, but cant get them off )With heat. Why are you doing this?

turbosy
how do i keep my power steering, the rst didnt have it so where/how do i get a p/s pump? The early MK5 escort 1.6 CVH EFIs had power steering, use that........and the engine mounts, you could use the engine loom, if you are using FRST ECU etc. You just need to swap 2 or 3 wires over, at the ECU, iirc
reid
how do i keep my power steering, the rst didnt have it so where/how do i get a p/s pump? The early MK5 escort 1.6 CVH EFIs had power steering, use that........and the engine mounts, like mine. bolt it off the CVH engine and onto your turbo lump, 1 bolthole wasnt there but the 2 bolts hold it strong enough. sortedford
do you currently have a t2 or t3? t2 the turbo will sit in the way of where the p/s is going.I have a wickid electric hydraulic pump for power stearing im selling (all it requires is a 12v- so it doesnt run off a belt), someones interested atm, but if he dont want it il let you know
ScORTED
speak to jano @ oddkiddcreations tez... he's near you isn't he? and you don't need efi for 200bhp - will cost you a lot more to get 200bhp from EFi than MFi

You instantly gain maybe 20bhp on an identical engine spec going from MFI to EFI due to the better airflow. But ultimately yes, it will cost more to achieve the same (if you want 200bhp and nothing but).
iwantacosworth
So as long as i get a Mk5 with a Cvh engine thast has p/s I can drop in an Rs turbo lump and utilise the p/steering that is on the original engine?

Preferably slightly lower compression (skim 0.060" off the standard Mahle pistons). **so i couldnt use my magnex that i have on there atm then? what intercooler would you reccomend? would a cossie fuel pump be good enough, or even too good maybe ** 4th question: what would need to be done to convert in to a 1.8 zvh, or 2.0 zvh, i know oil/water way's need blocking, but how do you do this, and are zvh very reliable, as i think blocking off oil/water way's cant be doin it any favor's...Why on earth would you want to do that? Why are you doing this? **because one if the conrod's has got a bolt stuck in it, on the big end side, where the 2 bolt's hold the piston on the crank shaft... one of the head's broke off so can get the rest out ** everything's been put on hold for now, but i have put star's next to where i'v replied above so i know for when i do start back on it and another question, lol, this engine i got, it was a mfi one, and im wanting to put efi bit's on it,... but will everything actually fit, like the inlet and exhaust manifold etc, and all the other bit... basically, is there anything that wouldnt allow me to use efi bit's? reid
you can use your own exhaust as long as you modify the downpipe to fit onto the turbo manifold, thats what ive did for the time being.
