TurboPez
As my brakes are crap on my mk6 been thinking off geting some of a mondeo, been looking around the forum and noticed that: 1.8/2.0 mk2 mondeo's are the same as rs2000 or you can use the rs2000 disc? is this true, i know the hub holes will need drilling, what bout 1.6 ones? Mk3 have st170 capilers or you can use st170 dics with them? is this all mk3? mk1 v6 has cossie brakes Please someone set me staight?!
stuey650
Not an expert, but may be able to help. RS2k's calipers and discs bolt straight on. You mayb be able to use mk2 calipers with rs2k discs. Someone will no doubt confirm. Focus ST170 caliper and ST170 discs bolt straight on after drilling the hub to 12mm. Mondeo Mk3 caliper and ST170 discs work together but you need to drilled the hub to 12mm and I think you need a 3mm spacer? AGain someone will hopefully confirm. The rest i'm not sure about. Also you'll prop need a new flexi pipe for all of the above combinations. As said I'm not an expert and I've not done this conversion but its something i'm thinking about upgrading in the near future for my RS2k so have been having a look when topic like this pop up. I think the mk3 mondeo combination is best value for money as they are 300mm discs and the mondeo calipers are easier and cheaper to come by than the st170 ones. Stu
Stuey is right.. the v6 Mondeo and ST170 brakes is the best combination, but does require a spacer.
TurboPez
So any mk3 mondeo calipers would work with st discs?!
Stu
No idea. I've only used the v6 ones.
turbosy
MK3 Mondeo calipers fit straight on, with NO spacer, after the hubs have been drilled out from 10mm to 12mm. You use Focus ST170 discs. You can use the excisting brake pipes & banjo blts, you either cut the banjo down or put 2 extra washers in, not ideal but they work for now

turbosy
You are right, all MK3 Mondeos list the same discs and pads so????? I'm not sure if the ST calipers are twin piston, as opposed to single piston like mine?
