Escort_Kid
Ok, right today i thought id have another crack at getting my headunit working, and ive nearly got it working but theres a strange problem. This is the order its setup: Headunit > plugged into headunit loom that came with headunit > which is plugged into a ford iso loom > which is then plugged into fords dash wiring loom. Ok right the problem: Theres a red wire that is in the headunit loom which splits into two red wires half way down that loom, which then plugs into the iso loom. But, when i plug the second one of these red wires into the iso loom 'illumination' connection, the cd player works, but also the speedo lights come on and so do the heater control lights. So there must be a wiring mistake somewhere but where? If anyone can help i would much appreciate it
rogerthecabbyboy
sounds like you have a live take off feed on the loom(some leads have this), unless you need to tap power off it (i.e for dvd player) leave well alone. you've plugged it into the illumination causing it to earth thru all the dash lighting illuminating it all thats my theory anyways
Escort_Kid
oh right, but thing is, the headunit doesnt work unless i plug the second red wire in, causig the dash to light up

Escort_Kid
not at all. just been out again to have another go and i got it working by plugging in the second red wire into the illumination bit and it worked perfectly no dash lights came on or anything but then i pulled one of the wires out and put it back in and now its not working again
rogerthecabbyboy
start from scratch and identify every wire, not hard at all and will highlight the wiring discrepency

Escort_Kid
Nope got it from argos for £60 as they had reduced it from £90 so i thought it was abit of a bargain. 4 x 40w aswell so its not too shabby, looks good too in the dark with all the blue LED bits on it, and puts out a good sound for me, so overrall im very pleased with it
