shawdreamer
bit curious as to what everyone else used to do theirs and how they went about it once the lenses were off I did my old Mk5's and used genuine glass tinting spray directly onto the chrome plastic lense surround inside the light housing itself, but Ive heard said that its easier to do the glass lense on the inside face or even use a different type of paint, even a gloss laquer paint one the chrome. My mk5's turned out non-to-bad and I was relatively pleased with the end result but before I go ahead and do my Mk6's I figured Id find out if anyone had any pointers to an easier and more satisfying finish? Joe
Heat up the glue, open them, spray the houseing black, not the lense, there are plenty of threads lower down the cosmetic section...
majorj0nny
yeah check for threads about 'smoked' headlights too - I did mine recently http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...st&p=836169 and found it a nightmare to get the lenses off without chipping the glass annd/or bending up the plastic of the units. I sprayed mine in some matt black hammerite stone chip protector (dont ask - at the time It was the only thing I had to hand and I didnt think Id use the lights cause of problems Id had making them).. I also took the oportunity to spray and laquer the plastic units and seal the glass back in using black silicone sealant... which I think all adds to the effect,. the ONLY thing Id change if I did these again would be to spray the smoked bit inside in gloss black instead of matt - but I think at the moment the matt provides a bit of contrast on an already very shiney black car. http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...showtopic=84806
