vernam616
alryt people, my brother has recently bought a escort LX, and is in the process of making it look like a GTi, we were wondering how hard it is to change the standard steering wheel to the GTi leather one/and if so , how to do it? paul7278
remove couling from around the stearing wheel, undo the 4 tiny (4.5mm) ish bolts holding the airbag to the stearing wheel, disconect battery and pull off cable that powers the airbag then undo the 21mm bolt holding the stearing wheel on then replace with new one! esy mate i tried it but unfortuantly my new stearing wheel came off a fiesta so the horn was on the stalk and it didnt work so good lol but will be fine with a gti/si stearing wheel! PeeWee
Disconnect the batery for about an hour before starting to be safe.Remove plastic cowling top & bottom.Airbag bolts are 5.5mm recessed at the rear of the wheel, turn wheel to each side to get access.once out give the airbag a tug to release it off its lugs & disconnect the yellow connector.Center wheels & engage steering lock while you undo center bolt, release steering lock & wiggle free & pull the wheel free.Fitting is the reverse of removal.
