Stu
The best heat-shield...... is the standard airbox!
ST170 Dan
as i have no bonnet grill i have positioned mine over the top of the filter and towards the back. that way the air comes from the bumper mesh, ie low, and then hits the shield and is directed back towards the filter. seems to work well, dunno if its psychological tho!! Stu
With all due respect, the nicely-made aluminium heatshield on D19 STE's car above is doing absolutely nothing.. other than looking pretty
ST170 Dan
Actually Lee, i reckon its the white people that are kicking up a fuss more than the coloured people. Just whites trying to be as PC and non-racist to please the other communities. With all due respect, the nicely-made aluminium heatshield on D19 STE's car above is doing absolutely nothing.. other than looking pretty is it not reflectin some of the heat? i seem to remember shiney surfaces reflect heat (from my gcse physics!!) Stu
Yes.. but it's not as if the air under the bonnet is static.. you'd run a heat shield like that to stop something getting burnt from excessive heat.. not to completely insulate something from the local air temp. Craig855S
so a completely enclosed box would be good, with an air feed coming from under the car in the cold airflow?
Stu
Enclosed box, yes.. as per stock. Gotta be careful where the feed comes from or you may end up hydraulic'ing your engine in wet conditions.
white_van_man
standard airbox with cold air feed coming from morrettes if you have them fitted works well.

Stu
I dare anyone to put two electronic thermometers on any heatshield-equipped cars either side of it to see what difference it makes
ST170 Dan
mine yeah mine is there too, cheers guys. would these sheilds also serve to recirculate air to the filter (as in bounce the air back to the filter)? which would be a good thing yeah?
