SLEEMAN
i'm gonna drop my car 40mm soon and i've seen how good 40mm is, but i would go and get uprated and shorten shocks at the same time like the spax psx kit etc as standard ones tend to have a shorter life when on shortened springs! Stu
Do you want your car to resemble a speedboat?
rogerthecabbyboy
but surely speedboats resemble cheap sluts... wet and full of pissed holiday makers without a clue??
shawdreamer
my Si is 40 drop up front and 60 drop down the back, found that a all round 60 had the nose diving into the floor, similiar but less pronounced with 40 drop all around I found the setup its on now (60 back, 40 front) levels the car out nicely with the engine up front working as balast, also helps avoid that lovely nose lift when taking off at pace
Stu
How can having a higher front help "nose lift" ? The correct poise for any car is the front slightly lower than the back.
Andy 3i
i was thinking that. escorts sit slightly lower on the back anyway, so why raise the front up so it looks like your struggling/ragging everywhere? i now get the speedboat comment
shawdreamer
up rated springs on the back with standard dampers hold the arse of mine just right to balance off against the uprated dampers and uprated springs on the front, hard to explain and I can see how a mental image would naturally be one of a scort doin a wheelie lol reason I went down that road was I had several variants of dampers and springs available to me so I basically went trial and error to find the look without loosing the drivability of the car, wanted a 60 drop all round but found the offset of the wheels I have caused problems with a full 60 drop, angle of the driveshafts, scuffing etc etc particularly on the front. the end solution I went with gave me a good all round trade off and still maintained the low slung level look. plus............. the speed humps round ere are absolute fuckin animals.... if you dont have a stiff front end when it comes off the hump it bellys out and twats buggery out the bottom of your motor
