fitting aftermarket steering wheel

hi ppl iv just been trying to fit my after market steering wheel to my escort gti the problem

is that when i put it on with the clock spring the clock spring doent move is there a special way i have to put this on

 

any help would be great

Is your problem with refitting your dials?

thats it m8 it does not seem 2 fit

when u fitted your wheel did u have to remove this

without this you have no horn or indicator cancel

i had the same problem it turned out to be that the escort boss didnt fit had to go to demon tweeks and get them to match it up think i ended up with 1 of a focus in the end and that sorted the problem

Ahh now i get you.

I got my boss from simoni racing & the black piece fits, although i had to do a bit of lining up to get the contact bits that the horn wires go in on the ring, it only will go one way so keep turning till it fits, taking into account you do have the suitable boss to start with.

I have always had to drill my boss's slightly to make it fit.

i bought the boss kit off a guy who had a mk6 rs2000

iv had to fit the wheel without the clock spring soo i have no idicator cancel or horn

ill have a look at the weekend and post sum pics

I didnt?

Like i said the correct boss will fit & use the original indicator & horn connections.

i got a boss from a mk5 welded it to a mk6 boss and bought a steering wheel for a mk5 which fitted perfectly, if you see what i mean, it went mk6 boss mk5 boss steering wheel, and i got to keep the steering lock, which you dont do if you buy the puma boss

Oh dear.

Like i have mentioned before, you CAN get a correct boss & you can KEEP all your bits like steering lock,indicator switch, horn, i know this as i have one fitted correctly.

Welding a boss together just sounds dangerous to me.

well i was trying to look for the right word, it wasnt welded it was machined together, but i dont know whats that called, it might just be called machined together

ive got the same boss as peewee i found that the clock ring prongs that stick in the back of the boss are tricky to line up. cause their a little to big for the hole they plug in to so i filed the prongs a little and it made them fit easyer.
