Tez162003
just a quick question, i understand the lower arm stuff such as Patent - Crap! (found that out myself!) Ford - okay for a while on lowered carsFord Van - Best of the shelf other than aftermarketFords with Poly Bushes - Getting better!Rose Joints Arms? - OH yeah! the daddys! but i was thinking what makes the ford ones so much better than patent ones, is it only the bushes? if so can you not just use patent ones with poly bushes? Also where can i get poly bushes from, and what sorta places can fit em?? One last thing anyone got any pictures of them fitted to an arm? (as you can see any info one poly bushes would be great!) plumber60
Its not Patent its Pattern The ball joint is also stronger however 99% of all arms ive evers seen have had failed bushes waaaay before the ball joint goes I would use pattern van arms, powerflex bushes(£110'ish delivered) and move the balljoint to adjust the camber... i think Trig did something similar using genuine Ford arms Poly bushes are available from most tuning companies... Motorsportworld.co.uk are good, Burton are too, Larkspeed may be cheaper. Any garage with a press can fit them, or... you can DIY by burning the old bushes out and hammering the new in, iirc Devboy did this. "The ball joint is also stronger however 99% of all arms ive evers seen have had failed bushes waaaay before the ball joint goes "...... (barring ones with manufacturing faults not picked up on the cover). Pattern items = QH personally, Sidrick will disagree
meekstaaa
The whole moving the ball joint nearer, i have heard of that before but how do you do it? Also would it make sense to do it on a 40mm lowered scort with 16 mondeo wheels or is it not worth it? ThanksDave
Tez162003
yeah how do you move the ball joint, and how do you know how much to move it by?
plumber60
yeah how do you move the ball joint, and how do you know how much to move it by?15mm and Trig did a thread on it Very easy to do even for you Edited August 12, 2007 by plumber60
lazy_arse_pie
what you want is the area six camber adjustment and replacement of bushes with spherical bearings ones, expensive at £285 though !
Stu
You'd move the lower joint based on how much it needs moving to get the camber in check...
Tez162003
without buying the adjustable ones how to you alter them? is that £285 a pair or each??

plumber60
without buying the adjustable ones how to you alter them? is that £285 a pair or each??As i said in my previous post... Trig has done this I believe he made a thread/post containing a basic how-to
Trig
Not quite Jay, I was going to do it, but I havent as yet, thought I would leave them alone for the track day, where a bit more camber is helpful. I think Carl did a how to thread, but I would only suggest someone very confident in their own 'engineering' skills should attempt it. Get in touch with Ian Howell from Area Six, he engineers standard ford arms to be camber adjustable for around £130 for the pair, which to be honest, when you think that Ford arms can cost over £100 a pair as standard, that little bit more is a worthwhile investment.
