benham3160
Hi, I'm planning to lay my Escort cab up ove the winter in my garage, however I am considering buying a basic spares 1.6 Zetec Escort and swapping the engine from that into my 1.4CVH mk5. The CVH is a CFi, so obviously there it will require the loom from the Zetec engine, what I wanted to know is has anybody done this, and does the Zetec engine drop in, will I need to change the gearbox/driveshafts etc...? Regards,Andy

Regards,Andy you can just leave the gearbox and drive shafts in as they will fit the new engine. get a zetec engine mount to match the engine.Yes you will need the engine loom. NATH-RSZT
how would you line up the zetec engine mounts so it all sits flush ? The zetec block lines up the same on on the cvh mounts but only 2 of the 3 bolts line up , if done up tight then thats plenty as my old engine was held in this way and didnt move at all. benham3160
why bother with a 1.6 ,, get 1.8 or 2.0 ?? Its just for drivability, rather than for performance. The CVH engine is my Escort is totally knackered, smokes nearly as much as I do, drinks oil, knocks, rattles, does about 20MPG, cuts out randomly etc...... and its done 130k! Its pretty easy and cheap to pick up a shunted/unloved zetec mk5. If a 1.8 came along, I'd probably use that! Regards,Andy
