Ive never driven one, been in a couple though, fast, very fast. I would love an E39 one, the E36 still looks classy

There's no such thing as an E39 M3...

I cant remember the model number, the ones around 52 plate, like cannings mum has.

E46 you mean trig , walk away mike ?

I wouldn't touch any E36/E46 with an SMG after things I've read and also after trying one. The latter being down to personally preference, but I've heard too many horror stories

get one with a manual 'box IMO

That's an E46, the E39 is a 5-Series

The E36 M3 3.0 is a great car athough a bit dated now. There is also an Evolution model of the E36 which is 3.2 and 6 speed, this tends to have a 'Vanos' issue which will be pricey to replace (£1500 ish). The later E46 M3 early ones had 'bore' problems which most have been fixed under warranty.

I know E36 SMG units can be problematic and very expensive to repair.I'd buy an E36 3.0 manual if i was on a budget.
