TommyT
I actually know nothing about painting so i need some help.I want to know how to paint my front strut brace to go with the rest of my engine bay. It is currently a standard purple and I want it blue! What do i need to do?
bluliz
wash it, let it dry, lightly sand it to key the paint. then spray with the blue of your choice. Add laquer if the paint requires it or for the desired finish.
TommyT
Cheers mate. Does the paint need to be heat resistant or anything like that and is it ok to use spray paint?
nick_ov_uk
normal paint should be okay, just do the prep work good and give it a coat of primer then a few coats of blue fininsh off with laquer.

Does the paint need to be heat resistant or anything like that and is it ok to use spray paint?car paint will be heavier duty, doesnt need to be VHT. normal paint should be okay, just do the prep work good and give it a coat of primer then a few coats of blue fininsh off with laquer.you can do it this way.....to be honest its not bodywork so doesnt need to look perfect. just my opinion.
