INXX BONNET LIFTER INSTALLATION ESCORT MK6

ADDING GAS LIFT STRUTS TO THE BONNET

This job is very easy and anyone can do it, makes the engine bay a lot nicer place to work.

The bonnet lifters will be near impossible to compress by hand, so don't think they are faulty when you receive them. Once they are installed on the car, the bonnet should lift itself up.

Requirements

INXX Bonnet Lifters Kit for Escort MK6

2x Extra Washers

10mm Spanner

10mm Socket

Centre Punch

Drill

Clamp

The first thing you need to is to mark out the first hole of the bracket

To do this you need to locate the rectangle cut out in you wing then working towards the windscreen the centre of the ball that the lifter goes on has to 45 mm from the edge. Then use a clamp to hold the bracket in place, (the tape was used to take the photo). Next Punch a hole in the centre of the holes to make drilling easier. Then remove the bracket and using a suitable sized drill, drill the holes.

Next you want to place the Bracket under the lip of the wing and place the bolts through the top and secure the nuts underneath.

Next You will need to get the remaining lifter mounting bolt the supplied washer and the extra washer, then placing them through the lowest hole in the bonnet bracket with a washer each side.

You are now ready to fit the lifters, in the caps at each end is a pin that needs removing and keeping safe you will need to replace it once the lifters are on the mountings.

Repeat the process on the otherside
